What are mobile crushing plants used for?
A mobile crushing plant places a crusher and associated equipment on a transportable platform. It can support changing work locations, but its performance depends on the selected crusher, screening arrangement and site logistics.
How it works
Tracked or wheeled modules may combine a feeder, jaw, cone or impact crusher, conveyors and screens. A mobile plant is an integrated arrangement, not a separate rock-breaking principle. Material flow between modules determines usable system capacity.
When to consider it
Consider mobile equipment for campaigns, quarry-face changes or sites where relocation has a practical benefit. Compare movement frequency and setup requirements with a fixed plant over the expected project life.
Application limits to check
Mobility does not remove road permits, ground-bearing checks, dust control or maintenance access. A single module may not produce all required fractions, and advertised crusher capacity is not necessarily finished-product output.
Selection data for a useful quotation
These are enquiry inputs, not specifications of a single model. Include measured values, units and the expected operating range; flag anything still to be tested.
| Input | What to provide |
|---|---|
| Material and feed | Rock properties, largest lump and feed distribution |
| Finished products | Fractions, grading limits and saleable tonnes per hour |
| Plant arrangement | Crusher type, screens, return conveyor and number of modules |
| Relocation | Move frequency, transport dimensions and local road restrictions |
| Energy | Diesel, electric or hybrid arrangement and available site supply |
| Operating site | Ground conditions, gradients, access and environmental controls |
Compare the complete duty
Compare mobile and fixed plants on civil works, relocation, energy, operating flexibility and lifetime maintenance. Compare tracked and wheeled arrangements against the actual transport route and frequency of movement.
Before accepting a supplier proposal
- Review a complete flow sheet with all inter-module transfer points.
- Verify transport weights, shipping preparation and unloading requirements.
- Define saleable-product acceptance, wear parts and operator training for the whole plant.
Buyer questions about mobile crushing plants
Does mobile mean no foundation is needed?
Site preparation and stable ground are still required. Follow the selected manufacturer's requirements and the site's engineering assessment.
Can one mobile unit crush and screen?
Some configurations integrate both functions, but output fractions and recirculation depend on the model. Request the complete layout and material balance.
Is mobile crushing always cheaper?
No. The answer depends on relocation needs, utilization, energy, civil works and support costs over the project life.
